Risk & Safety :
There's no security (no guard) at all, to check the hotel area especially during night. It's dangerous for the safety of the hotel guests and the staffs. Chiefly, for the staff who works during night shift. Seems that the area of the hotel is quite far from the town, therefore the probability of the theft to sneak in the hotel is quite high. There's only one staff who work during night shift on the second floor of the hotel. Meanwhile, at the first floor, there's no staffs. However, the hotel is covered under CCTV scrutiny but it's still not adequate.
Suggestion :
The hotel should improve their security by having at least one security force for the guests and staffs safety. Do a frequent check at every area of the hotel. Having at least one staff at the first-floor lobby and one staff at the second-floor lobby during the night. The hotel has a duty to take reasonable steps to minimize the foreseeable danger to those unwary souls who might venture on to the premises. Besides, the hotel also has a duty to provide a reasonably safe environment to their staffs and guests. The hotel should establish appropriate security measures to minimize the risk. The hotel should design, develop and implement a comprehensive, integrated security program. As for the guests, they should keep an eye on their personal belonging by not keeping valuable item inside the room when they aren't around.
FOOD
"Nasi Lemak Wak Kentut"
Risk & Safety :
Customers have to eat on the side roads while the car passed by and its risk the customer safety. Seems that it's street stall, thus a lot of people will come here to dine in when there's not enough space within the stall area, the owner has to open another tables on the side road at the parking lot area and the cars will pass by. It eventually causes the traffic congestion around that area and it's endangering customer lives. Not only that, the dust from the car passed by will affect the quality of the food.
Suggestion :
The owner has a duty to take a reasonable care of the customer safety. Therefore it's encouraged that the owner to find a strategic location or a proper food stall/restaurant in a covered area that will not risk the customer safety or the least they can do is to hire someone to take care of the traffic around the stall. The customers also have to take count their own safety or food quality by not eating at the roadside area. Seems that Wak Kentut's Nasi Lemak have their own loyal customers, thus by relocating their stall to a better place that will not endangered customers safety, will not be a problem because the customer will always find a way to find Nasi Lemak Wak Kentut.
ATTRACTION
ATTRACTION
"IOI MALL"
Risk & Safety :
The local said there are a lot of pickpockets inside the mall, especially in the toilet. When the visitors hang their handbag or pants at the back of the toilet door. Seems that the mall is quite huge and there are not many people there, therefore it's easier for the pickpocket to enter the mall.
Suggestion :
The responsible authority should, take an extra care of the customer belonging safety, arrest anyone who looks suspicious or keeps an eye on everyone and regularly checks the mall surrounding. Put a CCTV in front of the toilet entrance and at the back of the building to ensure there's no unwanted trespasser passed by. The mall should have a safety locker for it customers, to put their valuable items. The customers themselves should be aware of the surrounding and their belongings. To avoid becoming the target of the pickpocket do not bring a lot of cash or wear too many jewellery.
"Pulai Mountain"
Risk & Safety :
Poor maintenance of the recreational forest and lot of trashes at the base left by the irresponsible visitors. Especially along the lower stream below the waterfall and along the jungle trail next to it. Styrofoam lunch boxes, plastic bottles, junk food packets, and etc it’s strewn everywhere. The warning signboard seems doesn't work for this people. There's not many rubbish bin there, even if there were, no one would empty the rubbish bins once the bins get full. Nevertheless, people keep continuing swimming in the water even with all the stinking rubbish lies scattered around them. Besides, There is a quarry that has already denuded a sizable portion of Pulai mountain, and this enormous scar is so obvious from far away, even from the North-South highway. They have carved up a virgin forest and capable of destroying the entire mountain. There's seem no management plan for this mountain area, no rubbish bin and next to no interest.
Suggestion :
The responsible authority should do frequent visit to this place, make a proper management plan for this mountain, as it's one of the tourist attraction and strictly fine those who found guilty of littering. Besides, they should put a lot of rubbish bins nearby there so the visitors can throw all their waste in the rubbish bins. The responsible authority should also, make a proper maintenance of the waterfall recreation area, by regularly clean the rubbish bins and put the warning sign nearby the rubbish bins. Not only, they should also give attention to upgrade some facilities at the waterfall recreation without harming the nature and not overdeveloped. As for the visitors, they should have some civic by voluntarily remove the rubbish and make an effort to take out their rubbish with them. Besides, for the quarrying area, the government should limit the quarrying area or stop the quarrying activity in order to keep the mountain remain preserved and safe for everyone.
"Starfish Leisure Farm"
Risk & Safety :
The road along the way to the farm is rough, small, dirty and wasn't really convenient because the farm is located in the rural area. To get to this place, the visitors have to use Waze to guide them to the farm because there's no any signboard along the road to the farm except at the first entrance there's only one signboard. To get to this farm, it's quite far inside the forest without any signs on the left or right, which increase the probability of the visitor get lost while finding their farm.
The management of starfish farm should get a fund to improvise their road, so it will be more convenient for the visitor and add more signboards along the road so it least the risk of getting lost in the middle of the forest. They should get the local authorities to help them to improvise the road and promote this farm, as it's one of the attractions in Kulai. They should tar the road along to the farm as it's more convenient for all type of vehicles to get in there. As for the visitors, it's advice that they used Waze or google map to get them here, to least the risk of getting lost and use a fourth wheel car for a smooth drive along the way to the farm.
"Putou Village"
Risk & Safety :
This is the religious place but there's no any information board to tell what's the "DO & DON'T" of this place. As for a non-Buddhist visitor they tend to be oblivious of the "DO & DON'T because of there no sign to remind them. They don't know which area that they can enter or not. There are a number of peacocks and turtles as they are the sacred animal there, but the visitors don't know if they can approach them or not.
Suggestion :
The management should put the 'DO & DON'T" information board at the first checkpoint, so that none of the visitors cross the boundaries while keeping this place preserved and holy. The management should at least hire one guide there to remind the visitor what they can and cant do. Simultaneously, remind visitors about the rules of that place. As for the visitors, they should at least study about this place rules before coming here, in order to respect this place without causing any discomfort to anyone either to the villagers or to the other Buddhist.
"Johor Premium Outlet (JPO)"
Risk & Safety :
There's a playground in JPO, but it's quite small cannot accommodate a large number of kids and the equipment is not really interesting. The kids were left by their parents without supervision. While their parent going for shopping. Therefore, it increases the likelihood of the parent lost their kids while they're busy shopping. Because JPO is open space shopping mall, so nobody knows when the kids are missing or get kidnapped by the stranger.
Suggestion :
The playground needs some upgrading to accommodate more interesting equipment and improvement to allow the children to play in a much-covered area and space while parents can shop to they drop. The parent should never leave their kids at the playground without supervision, they should keep an eye on their kids. The security guard should always check the surrounding.
ENTERTAINMENT
"KTV MELODY KARAOKE"
Risk & Safety :
During the night the environment nearby there wasn’t really pleasant, it looks creepy with a bunch of street teenagers. The karaoke also serves alcoholic drink, and the drunk customers will sometime risk the safety of the crowd nearby especially during night. There's no security guard at the karaoke to take care of the customer's safety. During night, the karaoke will more likely look like a nightclub, which is not suitable for the Muslim customers. The surrounding area of the karaoke is quiet and dark, with no street light. Therefore, it increases the likelihood of getting robbed in that area.
Suggestion :
For the customers who come at night do come with a group of friends for own safety. Don't park the car far from the karaoke as the street is dark and quiet during night. The karaoke management should hire a security guard for the safety of the customers and the staff. They should have customer support staff, to help the drunk customers. They should also ask the local authorities to fix the street light for the safety of their customers and staff.
"Kulai Terminal Bus & Taxi"
Risk & Safety : Poor housekeeping at the nearby food court, the rubbish are everywhere. The rubbish bins were left unattended. Food court tables and chairs are messy. Poor maintenance, the place look unpleasant with dirty public toilet.
Suggestion :
The Kulai municipal council should take actions by putting a warning sign and hire a group of cleaner to clean that area and the public should pay Rm0.30 to enter the toilet, as it's one of the public transportation hubs, it supposed to reflect a good image of Kulai. The responsible authority should warn the food court owner to keep their area clean and neat. Do a regular inspection in this area and fine those who failed to follow the rules.
"Kulai Railway Station"
Risk & Safety :
The road along the railway station is too small with poor maintenance. The gate along the railway station also has been vandalized and some part has been cut off, it's so dangerous to be nearby there especially for the kids.
Suggestion :
The government should take an initiative to improve the facilities nearby the railway station by proper maintenance of the road and new gate along the railway station for the safety of everyone. Put a CCTV nearby the KTM station to ensure the safety of the nearby area and to prevent vandalism. Put a lot of warning sign nearby the KTM station and fine those who failed to follow the rules.
